“I may spend time thinking and planning a work but once I get started I work fast and with spontaneity. Many of my sculptures and assemblages are created entirely from or in part from found objects. In most cases, I live with the objects for a time and gradually ideas develop – then in a burst of energy I create a work. I find working with found objects exciting because they still have their original association but ‘you’ give it a new meaning and context.

In recent abstract paintings I am exploring colour, form and volume, playing colours against each other and leading the eye backwards a forwards from the surface plane. Nevertheless, I am also trying to express my reaction to a subject and/or an event: It could be a scene I want to capture or a week of living!”
